Bart Karalus

BVSc

Veterinary Surgeon

Born and raised in Hamilton, NZ, Bart Karalus has deep roots in the community and a lifelong connection to Newstead Vets. He fondly remembers the clinic's humble beginnings in founder Gwyn Verkerk's basement and has been an integral part of its journey ever since. Since taking ownership in 2014, Bart has cultivated exceptional relationships with clients, emphasising the importance of education in animal care.

Bart has a special interest in complex medical and skin cases, brachycephalic breeds and their many problems, and laparoscopic surgery. He is a proficient operator of Newstead's wide array of flexible and rigid endoscopes and enjoys providing less intrusive methods to diagnose and treat your pets. Bart is dedicated to continuously improving his methods and embracing new technologies to provide the best care for pets. He is the only veterinarian in the greater Waikato offering keyhole desexing, a less invasive option that promotes faster recovery times for your pets.

His commitment to the well-being of pets and their families makes him a beloved figure in both the clinic and the local community. Bart's passion for veterinary medicine and his dedication to providing top-notch care ensure that every visit to Newstead Vets is a positive experience for both pets and their owners.
