Welcome to Newstead Vets
Our professional, friendly veterinary team offers an experienced, personal service for you and your pets.
- COVID-19 LOCKDOWN UPDATE -
New Zealand will be at COVID-19 Alert Level 4 from Wednesday 25th March. At this level only essential services will be open.
Veterinary services have been confirmed as essential.
Your sick or injured pets will always be treated and you will still be able to obtain medications and food.
We will be operating in a different capacity and the clinic will be in lockdown.
Our clinic will be staffed and our phone lines open during our normal operating hours. Please phone or email in the first instance for any veterinary treatment, medications or food.
Please advise at the time you phone or email if you are unwell, have any respiratory illness or have been exposed to COVID-19.
We will also be operating an ambulance service to collect pets if needed. This service will be free of charge.
Clients will not be able to enter the clinic and will have to ring from the car park on arrival or come to the reception window to “check in”. Please observe the recommended social distancing measures if other members of the public are present. Staff will meet you there and take your pet in for examination. The vet will then phone you and go through the consult process and discuss treatment.
Your pet’s prescriptions/food will be brought to you outside the building or can be couriered to you if services are available.
Although pets cannot be infected with COVID-19 it is still possible to transfer the virus on their coats. Please try and avoid patting or kissing your pet prior to the vet visit.
Waikato After Hours Vet Clinic will be open for emergency care outside of our opening hours.
As always, we are committed to being there for you and your pets.
For information regarding COVID 19 and pets, or self-isolating with pets, please refer to the New Zealand Veterinary Association website: nzva.org.nz
Our opening hours during this time are: 8am to 6pm, 7 days a week
